And along with kissing goodbye to various bandwagons – ahem, dry jan and veganuary we're looking at you -Britain left the EU. But with trade deals still to be negotiated, what does this mean for the future of food?
One of the main concerns is whether UK farmers will have to compete with low-standard, cheap imports produced in ways that would be illegal in this country, the threat to sustainable practices, food security and the rising cost of European imports.
In times where we lack clarity and direction from the government, we have to take a grass-roots approach by taking matters into our own hands. At Caiger & Co. our values of sustainability, seasonality and community are now stronger than ever.
Our next seasonal supper club celebrates those values. With its primary aim to fundraise for our charity partner, the Young Women's Trust, our next supper club also celebrates the work being done by women in the food industry by using female suppliers - from female farmers, bakers and butchers - to curate a three-course menu with sustainability and seasonality at its heart. More information soon to come.
